Availability of a gas regulator changes recoil speeds of moving parts and provides the rifle with exceptional reliability. SVD is a sniper weapon and is fitted with optical sight PSO-1M2. Muzzle velocity 830 m/s. Designed by Yevgeny Dragunov from 1958 to 1963. Adopted by Soviet Army in 1963. System: short-stroke gas-piston, rotating bolt.
