Pistol grips:These are designed according to the strength of the grip the shooter requires. The categories are: full pistol grip, half pistol grip, quarter pistol grip and POW (Prince of Wales grip). Each category is available with either metal cap, ebony cap, plain wood or rounded make off. Safety: This can be either automatic or non-automatic. The automatic safe is usually associated with game guns; the gun always returns to safe on opening. The non-automatic safe always has to be made safe by the shooter. Forends: Purdey will make forends shaped to any requirement. The standard fitting is the splinter forend. Customers may specify the Beavertail forend which gives a strong grip for the front hand. It also keeps the fingers away from hot barrels.
