You won't regret the purchase it's a great firearm, not going to lie on the question about the grips I'm not really sure. I own two 1911s and I would have to say the ones on this feel thicker than my others. Hopefully that helps.

This was my first 1911. It has performed flawlessly to date. Kimber has excellent quality and finish. My only recommendation is chuck the stock mag (it's crap) and get some Wilson Combat mags. Again Buds was a pleasure to work with.
