Kongsberg Vapenfabrikk Krag-Petersson Naval Rifle Complete Specs and Full Gun Specifications

Krag-Peterson 1876 Naval Rifle was made from 1876 to 1877. Only 975 of them were made in that time. The Krag-Peterson rifle was one of the first repeating arms used anywhere in the world. It was designed by Ole Herman Johannes Krag, gun designer and director of the Kongsberg Vapenfabrikk and by his friend Axel Petersson. The Krag-Peterson rifle was first falling block rifle that was designed into repeating rifle. When loading rifle, cartridge rising from the magazine was not seated automatically, but had to be pushed into the breech of the rifle. That was done by first cocking the hammer and then pushing lever on right hand side of the rifle up and then down. Tubular magazine was hidden under the barrel. By using that technique shooter could fired 11 shots in just 25 seconds. Royal Norwegian Navy adopted the rifle in 1876.
