Pedersoli Derringer Philadelphia Complete Specs and Full Gun Specifications

The Pedersoli Philadelphia Derringer is a replica of the historically significant easily-concealable, self-defense pistol originally created by a John Henry Derringer. Deringer manufactured pistols and military rifles, including many travel and duelling pistols. About 15,000 of the Philadelphia Derringers' were made between 1850 and 1870, two years after his death. The barrel’s length varied from 1 ½” to 6”. Deringer’s pocket pistols renown infamously increased towards the end of its production period due to a tragic fact of American history. A similar pistol, in fact, was found in one of the Ford Theater’s boxes in Washington, where, on the evening of the 14th of April 1865, President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth. Deringer’s style, copied by other producers, led to the identification of many pocket pistols with “derringer” name. This model comes cased in a nicely shaped wooden box with a small powder flask.

after range follow up

after using this gun at the range , i found it easy to load and fire. i found 15grains of FFFG with a.440 ball with patch and a #10 cap to be what was required for this pistol. i did amp it up to 25 grains but for shooting targets 15 grains was sufficient

Returned Derringer

I bought this mainly for the historical meaning (gun that assassinated Lincoln). The workmanship was just fair but the hammer action was stiff and very difficult to pull back.

shocking

This Derringer was not a very good quality. the bore looked like it was drilled freehand in a vise. Was not concentric, and had minimal wall thickness on the crooked hole. Was repackaged and returned within 2 minutes.

I had been looking at one Pedersoli's Philadelphia Derringers for a while. I had seen a couple of other manufacturers models at my local gun show, but was unimpressed by the workmanship. When my local Cabela's had one of these in the display case I was ab
