The Ruger .44 Magnum Carbine known as the "International" for its European style full length "Mannlicher style" stock. Ruger's very first rifle, the semi-auto Model 44 was designed in 1959 as a handy, hard-hitting carbine meant for deer-sized game at medium to short ranges. It is a gas operated weapon with a short stroke piston and rotating bolt that locks the breech. The receiver is milled from a block of ordnance steel to ensure it has the needed strength. The internal tubular magazine has a capacity of 4-rounds and is loaded from below in the manner of many popular shotguns. The barrel measures 18-1/2" in length and is fitted with a folding rear sight and gold bead front sight. The receiver and barrel are factory drilled and tapped for scope mounts.
