February 9, 2022Great gun.
I bought this gun without the scope. I put a $200 scope on it and can hit 425 yards sub moa. I would shoot farther if I had a bigger range to shoot at. This is a solid gun hands down.

February 9, 2022It's ok, but not my thing
I bought this gun about 3 or 4 years ago and it's ok for the money. I got the 270 and it kicks pretty hard, and the trigger is not the best. I also am not a fan of how the safety works. I could not get the trigger to pull do to they way it cycled and miss

February 9, 2022Love this rifle
Great rifle, got it in 6.5 creedmoor and it packs a punch. For 200$ for the rifle and the scope combo it's a no brainer(100$ rebate) sighted in with 5 shots and was shooting more accurate then my buddies 600$+ rifle that day!

February 9, 2022Exceeding Expectations...
I bought this in 30-06 b/c of the sale and the rebate. I needed a second and larger rifle due to the thick brush I have started hunting. I didn't expect it to shoot 2" MOA w/ Hornady SST 150g at 100 yards w/ this stock, rings and scope. (And I have n

February 9, 2022watch out for dirt
My second review, in the second year of using the rifle, 25-06, for deer hunting it scored again, still a lot of damage to the deer. But my big problem is dirt. Being a good hunter, I leave the chamber empty while traveling, thus in old age forgot to cham

February 9, 2022Good rifle for the price
I bought this rifle in the .270 model, near the end of deer season last year. I have been very happy with it. Scope was loose when I purchased it, so I set it up and made sure all hardware was tight. Bought a bullet bore sight and set it a 25, 50, and 100

February 9, 2022Perfect Yet...
I purchased this rifle about 2 months ago and I finally got a chance to shoot it and kill a hog with it I got in 25 06 and using 115 grain Winchester ballstic silvertips it performed beautifully the only issue I have with it is that it wasn’t bore sighted

February 9, 2022Great rifle poor scope
I bought this Savage Axis .308 Winchester at Bass Pro in Round Rock, TX on 5/27/2017.Rifle shoots great, zeroed quickly and easily...after 7 shots this morning the cross-hairs in the Bushnell scope broke loose. I understand they put low budget scopes on t

February 9, 2022Scope is horrible
Rifle is powerful shooting the .308, 180 grain bullets. After shooting around 40 rounds, the scope fell off. After another 40 rounds, the scope was broken from the inside. Doesn't have irons sights.

February 9, 2022different
I bought this gun in 25-06 because I wanted something light in weight. It is light to carry, but had I had any idea what it would do to a deer, I would have choose a different cal. With a 117 grain bullet, it destroyed the back strap. You want range, it's

I read the reviews others had written before I purchased this gun. Bought it based on that and the need for a cheap gun to carry on my bike and in the boat moose hunting. It took two days of steady shooting and 2 boxes of rounds to straighten out the mess

February 9, 2022Great Starter Riffle
I bought this riffle two seasons ago. Accurate right out of the box, but I did resight it for 100 yards, which is my average shot for deer and hogs.

February 9, 2022surprise! surprise!
I bought this gun for use in bad conditions, when it was to wet or dirty to carry more expensive guns. To my surprise, I find myself reaching for this gun even when the weather is good. This gun in a 243 brought down a monster hog at 300 yds. first trip o

February 9, 2022Nice firearm, horrible optics
The rifle itself is a nice gun for the price. The big problem was first bullet fired from the blind, the scope fell apart (internal crosshairs reticle came loose and is rattling around inside scope). Quite the disappointment on the first morning of a thre

February 9, 2022Junk for a new rifle 30-06 AXIS
I very irritated right now. I bought this Savage Axis 30-06 brand new. First off it's supposed to have a Weaver scope on it yet it came with a Bushnell and I didn't see this until I purchased it. Another person said the same thing. Second, the magazine ha

February 9, 2022Creedmoor 6.5
I bought this with the wood stock/Accu-trigger on sale primarily as a hunting predator rifle. Put a new 20 MOA rail on top and a Cabela's caliber specific scope (300 Win Mag as the ballistics are similar). Shooting 1/2" groups at 100 yards using Remi

February 9, 2022Scope
Ad indicates that a Weaver 3-9x40 will be mounted. The rifle I purchased had a Bushnell 3-9x. I didn't complain because the Cabela's where I bought the gun is 60-miles AWAY (round trip) and I knew they would ask me to bring the package back.I didn't need

February 9, 2022Beware of the scope bases.
The scope bases that come with this combo do not match the scope rings. If you look closely where the rings clamp on the bases you will see where the bases are not machined to a sharp enough vee to seat in the vee of the rings and the rings are barely sea

February 9, 2022Garbage
Bought the .30-06, magazine is cheap plastic, it misfires, and the polymer stock is inadequate. Save your money and buy a Ruger. And good luck getting a hold of someone in customer service, they will not get back to you.

February 9, 2022fantastic accuracy
Picked up the Axis II in .270... clerk bore sighted it and out of the box it was on paper at 100 yards... Within a box of shells, I covered 3 shots with a dime. I was shocked. You can't beat accuracy like that at this price. Would have rather had the Niko

February 9, 2022Best for the price

February 9, 2022No happy
I own 5 different Savage rifles and expected the Axis to be just as good as others. The magazine latching method couldn't be any cheaper and I expect it to wear out quickly. The barrel is touching the stock in the front 2 inches. I always had good accurac

February 9, 2022first bad Savage
I own 7 Savage rifles and I am happy with all of them except this one. It may turn out to be a good rifle, but it's off to a bad start. I shot the rifle once and I can't get the bolt to rack out the spent casing. It was suggested to get a rubber mallet to

February 9, 2022My new FAVORITE rifle

February 9, 2022Needed work right out of the box.
I bought this Savage combo in 6.5 Creedmoor. Right out of the box I noticed that the forestock was touching the barrel on the right side. I didn't think much of it except when it was placing 4" groups. I thought it must be the Weaver scope. But the o

February 9, 2022Better than expected
I actually have two Savage Axis rifles. One is the original without the Accutrigger and the other is the Savage Axis 2 with the Accutrigger. I've spent much more on other rifles only to have them be less accurate than the Axis. When I took it to the range

This is a fantastic combo. I am a very inexperienced shooter. I go out a handful of times a year and shoot milk jugs and things like that. I have a Remington 700 CDL in 30-06 and this combo shoots just as good.I got the combo with a camo stock in 270 W an

February 9, 2022Great Value Rifle
This rifle is a great purchase for the price. Being relatively new to deer hunting, the Weaver scope Axis II XP package was the perfect rifle. It grouped tightly at up to 400 yards out of the box. One con about the rifle is the stock, as hollow plastic is

February 9, 2022Excellent rifle
I am giving this 4 stars because, despite the description, the scope wasn't even close to being bore sighted in. Out of the box, it was shooting 16" left of bullseye at 50 yards.
