Yes it will it is the same dimensions. I don't believe you'll need an extension. According to Springfield Armory's website; the XD40 and XD40 Mod 2 use the exact same magazine (SKU XD1940). This is for the .40 S&W but, I'm sure it's the same for the 9mm m
