The Weatherby Vanguard Synthetic Youth model is a bolt-action hunting rifle chambered in .223 Rem., .22-250 Rem., .243 Win., 7mm-08 Rem. and .308 Win. The Vanguard Synthetic Youth is a scaled-down version of the Vanguard Synthetic model. It features a barrel length of 20″ for an overall length of 38″ and total weight of 6.5 pounds. Like the standard Vanguard Synthetic, the Vanguard Synthetic Youth offers a composite stock and steel metalwork with a matte black finish. However, the buttstock includes an elongated spacer that allows the length of pull to be adjusted from 12.5″ to 13.625″. The Vanguard Synthetic Youth also includes a low density recoil pad. The Weatherby Vanguard Synthetic has a Monte Carlo composite stock and matte black metalwork. Otherwise the Vanguard models share a number of common characteristics including a fully adjustable trigger that is initially factory-tuned to 3.5 pounds. It has a fluted bolt body that reduces surface area and weight. The rifle has a cocking indicator that visually indicates whether the it’s uncocked or cocked. Along with a hinged floorplate, all Vanguard models have a cold hammer forged barrel, meaning a machine carefully pushed a mandrel through it to rifle the bore.
